Daniel F. Caruso
Attorney Caruso is headquartered in the firm’s Fairfield office. He maintains a general practice that concentrates in Real Estate, as well as Trusts and Estates.
Since 1995, he has served as the Judge of Probate for the District of Fairfield while also acting as the interim judge to fill vacancies of significant durations in the New Canaan, Greenwich, and Westport-Weston Districts. He is also the Special Assignment Judge for Fairfield County.
Judge Caruso was raised in Fairfield, and graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1980 with a BA in Political Science. Thereafter, he earned his JD form Vermont Law School in 1983. Also in that year he was admitted to the Connecticut Bar and then to the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut in 1984. Judge Caruso was elected State Representative for the 134th District in 1989, and served in the Connecticut General Assembly for 6 years before being elected Judge of Probate. Chairing the Connecticut Siting Council from 2006 to 2011, he approved and oversaw the placement and configuration of the state’s critical power and telecommunications infrastructure.
He served two terms as President of the Connecticut Probate Assembly and is a member of the National College of Probate Judges, He has also held various positions in the Town of Fairfield and on numerous civic and charitable boards including: the Kiwanis Club, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, the Day in the Sun Committee, Caroline House, Center for Women and Families; Notre Dame High School; and the Oak Lawn Cemetery Association. He is an Eagle Scout and a Knight of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem.
